What a brilliant place this is. 4 huge hangers of planes and other bits and pieces. The tour de force is Concorde - who wouldn't want to see the world's fastest passenger plane? There are lots of other planes to see including military and other civillian units. It does get a bit "here's another plane" but I guess that's what people are there for.
If you have kids, don't miss out the Fantastic Flight building. It's chock full of things to keep them entertained, they'll certainly enjoy it more than some of the more static exhibits. They can fly a plane or airship, build things, experiment with aerodynamics and lots of other cool stuff!
The site itself is massive, so be prepared for lots of walking. For those who need it, there is blue-badge parking at each hanger which was a god send for us - you are welcome to drive to each exhibit rather than walk. When we went there was a WWII exhibition which was really interesting and a good break from the plane exhibits. A few buildings/planes were shut but it didn't detract from things. You certainly felt like you were in a piece of our (wartime) history.
My only tiny gripe is that a lot of things are behind perspex or glass. It would have be nice to have a more hands-on experience, especially as a lot of the exhibits are knobs, dials, levers or feel what it would have been like to sit in the pilots seat. But I also understand the requirements of preservation.
There was a discount too for families and a free carer's ticket too which was a nice bonus.

Visited the National museum of flight back in the summer.
We bought our tickets in advance online as it was £1 cheaper and we thought why not make the saving.
Museum is set out over the old East Fortune airfield. Does require a fair bit of walking but easily accessible for wheelchair users.
The BAC 1-11 and Comet were great to take a look inside and explore. Being able to get up close to the Vulcan Bomber as well was fantastic.
The aircraft in the military and also Civil aviation hangers are fantastic as well and a great selection. All hangers and aircraft inside have a detailed information board with them to tell you all about the aircraft.
The Concorde hanger is good and gives a real understanding of the design and making of the aircraft as well as a free audio if you want.
If looking round old aircraft isn't your thing then the fantastic flight centre has loads of experiments, games and tests you can do to learn about all aspects of flight. This area is great for children and adults as well!
Honestly the flight museum was a fantastic half day out and well worth a visit.
Feel free to check out the full video review of the National museum of flight over on my YouTube channel.

I really enjoyed my visit. I think it’s a great museum and well worth a trip to see. Lots of different aircraft, military and civilian. Particularly liked the spitfire and of course, the Concorde. I loved the Concorde had a whole exhibition about its story. We went to the cafe and the cake was great. Really nice staff and volunteers, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Great gift shop as well. Definitely recommend!

It’s really good but not recommended in winter time because heavy wind and cold couldn’t explore all

Fantastic afternoon out! My 7 years old is jet obsessed & he thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the aircraft displayed here. Memorable experience for him. Very large collection of aircraft. We came for the military aircraft collection which is extensive. The concorde exhibition & being able to go inside an actual concorde was a brilliant experience. There was an educational area too which was super interactive & fun! On a old ww2 airbase which makes it more interesting. Cafe & shop nice & well stocked too. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyable, amazing exhibits. Tiny moan from me was the batter for the home made chicken goujons had a herb I didn't recognise and did NOT like..may have been coriander!! Don't mess with standard expectations for a meal.. Needed to buy something else to get rid of the aftertaste...and I enjoy cooking and try most combinations.. Loved everything about the planes...

Had a great time here. I’ve been a few times twice it wasn’t very busy once I went on a free day and it was super busy, but well structured.
Plenty to see, parks for kids, gift shops, cafe.
Public transport available (bus)
Not fully wheelchair accessible.

Absolute gem of a place. For anyone into aviation or in fact not, certainly worth a day out. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable and a lot of the original buildings from the 1940s still in situ. (Whilst we did not visit with children - there were a lot of interactive activities (inside and out) to get involved with and learn more about aviation alongside being able to go onboard concord, a boeing 707 and a comet.) We attended the 2pm talk in the conservation hanger and ensured we had lunch at the onsite cafe. (Reasonable prices, lovely staff, good range of food & drink - the coffee was lovely and quick service) We arrived at 12.30 and rushed to see everything in 3.5hrs - you could certainly spend a full day here!

We couldn't make it today due to the snow and called them to see if there was anything we could do because we didn't want to lose the money we paid and they refunded us on a e-voucher to book at another date. The customer service was fantastic, can't wait to finally visit the place.

Loved the place. I like everything related to aviation. I am planning to visit it again, this time with my son. Not 5 stars because some planes could be in better condition, but it is definitely worth a visit.

Excellent day out with two vintage hangars full of civil and military aircraft, and Concorde in a new purpose-built hangar. Outside are two more airliners and a Vulcan. The Fantastic flight building has two great simulators: fly an airship and land a plane. Also several activities including a paper dart launcher.
If you book tickets a day ahead they are cheaper.

Cracking day at the museum, bought the annual pass to use in other places but was worth it just for this. Concorde red arrow, Vulcan and lots more, spread out over the base, plenty to see, info boards are good, several planes can be boarded. Interactive section is absolutely fantastic and good for kids of all ages. Going from hanger to hanger can be cold but once in it’s all good. Assault coarse for kids to play on and a shop with aviation related items (bit pricy but this is how they stay open) definitely recommend a visit and will be back again. Last note: thanks to the volunteers around the base, helpful and knowledgeable.

Quite a good day out, but I went here specifically to see Dick Emery's Tiger Moth, which was no-where to be seen. A very bitter disappointment.
